Donna Davidge Yoga
"Whenever a student feels transformed, inspired or healed by yoga the way I present it In my NYC classes or private instruction I am filled with gratitude ..."
Wanderlust Weekly: Congrats on the growth of your practice! What inspired its creation? Donna Davidge: I love learning and yoga offers so many opportunities to keep doing so with so many types and forms to learn, refine and share. I am passionate about yoga and life and have been teaching for over 30 years now- yikes! Yoga makes you feel great.
Wanderlust Weekly: You've built a strong community following in New York, what are some of your proudest moments? Donna Davidge: Creating a successful summer retreat for people to experience Maine, offering personalized yoga while sharing my family history (Theodore Roosevelt healed at Sewall House too!) creating great teams there and having foresight to do it 20 years ago, before the trend. Whenever a student feels transformed, inspired or healed by yoga the way I present it In my NYC classes or private instruction I am filled with gratitude.
Wanderlust Weekly: The wellness field is constantly evolving, what upcoming news or developments can we look forward to? Donna Davidge: I think yoga instructors - who often teach meditation as well- are really helping to raise awareness about compassion to others, including animal and plant life. With social media and technology constantly evolving, more and more tools will be available for the public to learn these ancient techniques to help them with the challenges/stresses of modern times, both physically and mentally. That does not preclude the importance of personal connection and attention, like we offer in the natural beauty of northern Maine. Retreats like ours are on the rise and important step away from life's stresses - to recharge renew and reflect- and have fun! Classes and privates are important ways to connect to students too- and help them further their practice. Many yoga teachers are activists- I am an animal and environmental activist. I think there will be more news about yogis trying to change the world! For the better- of course. [ learn more ]
