"Our proudest moments are when we see people coming back again and again and mixing with each other. We love the fact that people don't just come to work out, they come to meet people and ultimately socialise together ..."
Wanderlust Weekly: Congrats on the growth of The Refinery! What inspired its creation? Zoe: We have always had a passion for health and wellbeing and in particular yoga. We were fed up going to overcrowded classes where you felt like you had to be super fit to be in them - completely defeating the object!! We wanted to build somewhere that was accessible to everyone and would introduce lots of different disciplines. We like to mix things up at The Refinery with yoga, barre, cardio training and meditation to nourish your mind body and soul! We purposely keep the classes small so that you get the maximum attention.
Wanderlust Weekly: You've built a strong community following in London, what are some of your proudest moments? Zoe: Thanks! Our proudest moments are when we see people coming back again and again and mixing with each other. We love the fact that people don't just come to work out, they come to meet people and ultimately socialise together. Our first retreat in Ibiza was also a really proud moment for us - people having enough faith in what we do, to come away and spend their precious time with us. Also winning the Tatler Gym award for wackiest classes was a high moment for us!
Wanderlust Weekly: The wellness field is constantly evolving, what upcoming news or developments can we look forward to? Zoe: We agree and notice how much more people are investing in themselves and their health. Life is becoming more and more hectic and we need to take the time out to mentally and physically recharge. We find people are starting to look for more of the Yin to the Yang - so they like to keep their bodies in shape with Yang practices like the fitness and cardio and more Power yogas, but then looking for more headspace at the same time, so meditation and mindfulness classes are on the rise. People seem to be more openly curious and are looking to connect more to themselves spiritually as well as physically. [ learn more ]
